5.00

Bloom Time: June-July

Height 3-4 feet

Common Milkweed is an edible, medicinal plant that hosts the Monarch butterfly, and supports a wide variety of pollinator species. If you have space to take out a chunk of lawn, mix it with other similar height or tall perennials like Early Sunflower, Wild Bergamot, and Grey Headed Coneflower so they flow together, leaving out short plants that will get out competed. This one spreads underground through rhizomes, so best to give it space, and keep it away from weaker, shorter plants. The fragrance is positively strong on this plant, give it full sun and moderate moisture.
